
SRINAGAR: Kashmir witnessed light rainfall over the past 24 hours, while the Meteorological Department has forecast intermittent showers and thundershowers across the region till April 19, with weather conditions expected to improve thereafter.
According to MeT data, Srinagar received 2.6 mm of rainfall during the last 24 hours. Higher precipitation was recorded in Qazigund at 4.4 mm, Kupwara at 6 mm, Gulmarg at 7 mm, and Pahalgam at 5.4 mm, making Gulmarg one of the wettest stations in the Valley.
Night temperatures remained above normal by 0 to 3 degrees Celsius at several places, with Gulmarg recording a minimum temperature of 3.6°C.
The Meteorological Department has predicted partly to generally cloudy skies with intermittent light rain or thundershowers at multiple locations, mainly during morning and evening hours until April 19. It also warned of gusty winds reaching speeds of 40–50 kmph and a possibility of isolated hailstorms.
From April 20 onwards, weather conditions are likely to turn largely dry and stable, persisting till April 24. However, the forecast indicates that brief spells of light rain or thundershowers with gusty winds may still occur at isolated places on April 25 and 26, particularly during afternoon hours.
