Poonch Admin Orders District-Wide Air Raid, Blackout Mock Drill from April 20 | Kashmir Life

SRINAGAR: The Deputy Commissioner of Poonch has ordered a district-wide Civil Defence mock drill involving air raid and blackout scenarios from April 20 to April 24, 2026, to enhance emergency preparedness and coordinated response.

According to an official communication issued by the Assistant Commissioner (Revenue), acting on directions from the Deputy Inspector General of Civil Defence and SDRF Jammu, all concerned departments have been instructed to ensure proper planning and smooth execution of the exercise.

Key officials, including the Senior Superintendent of Police, Chief Medical Officer, and Executive Engineers of PWD (R and B), IFC, Jal Shakti and JPDCL, along with the Municipal Council, SDRF and Fire and Emergency Services, have been asked to work in close coordination with Civil Defence authorities to ensure the drill is conducted effectively.

Departments have been directed to make advance arrangements such as raising public awareness, organising logistics, and strengthening inter-departmental coordination to ensure safety, public participation, and minimal inconvenience.

Authorities have also been told to submit action taken reports to the Deputy Commissioner’s office for onward submission to higher authorities, enabling proper monitoring and assessment of the exercise.
