
SRINAGAR: Police in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district have arrested an alleged drug peddler and recovered around 534 grams of charas during naka checking at Sangam, officials said.
The accused has been identified as Mushtaq Ahmad Dar, son of Mohammad Akbar Dar, a resident of Renzipora, Awantipora. He was apprehended by a police party from Police Post Sangam during routine checking at GB Khalil, Sangam. Upon search, a charas powder-like substance weighing approximately 534 grams was recovered from his possession.
A case under FIR No. 113/2026 has been registered at Police Station Bijbehara under Section 8/20 of the NDPS Act, and investigation has been initiated.
Police said the action is part of an ongoing crackdown against drug trafficking and urged the public to cooperate by sharing information about such illegal activities.
