Police arrest accused in kidnapping, sexual assault of minor in Bishnah

Jammu, Feb 15: Police have arrested an accused involved in the kidnapping and sexual assault of a minor girl in Bishnah area of Jammu district.

“On February 14, 2026, an information was received at Police Station Bishnah regarding the kidnapping and sexual assault of a minor girl within its (Police Station Bishnah) jurisdiction. Acting promptly on the complaint, a case under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the POCSO Act was registered, and investigation was immediately taken up,” Police said.

According to Police, special police teams were constituted, and swift action was initiated using both technical evidence as well as human intelligence inputs.

“Continuous field efforts, area searches, and coordinated operations were conducted. As a result of the prompt and coordinated action by the Police, the alleged suspect namely Arjun Lakhotra, 27, son of late Rashpaul Kumar, resident of Dinday Khurd, Bishnah, has been apprehended,” Police informed.

The victim, according to Police, has been safely recovered and provided necessary medical assistance and support as per legal protocol.

“Further investigation of the case is underway,” Police said, adding, “Scientific evidence is being collected and all legal formalities are being completed. Legal proceedings against the accused have been initiated as per law. Further details will be shared as the investigation progresses.”
