Top government sources confirmed that Kapoor will chair a high-level meeting at the Srinagar Smart City Limited (SSCL) headquarters, where he will evaluate both completed and ongoing infrastructure initiatives aimed at modernizing the summer capital.

During his visit, Kapoor is expected to conduct on-ground inspections of public assets, including the iconic Clock Tower in Lal Chowk and the newly developed Raj Bagh–Silk Factory Road riverfront corridor, both seen as transformative elements of the city’s urban renewal agenda.

The visit will focus on the performance and impact of various civic improvement projects rolled out under the Smart City scheme, which has been positioned as a model of urban governance in Jammu and Kashmir. This high-profile review is expected to set the tone for the next phase of development in Srinagar, amid growing attention from New Delhi on ground-level execution and impact.

Kapoor, a 1987-batch IAS officer from the Himachal Pradesh cadre, is currently serving his second term as Advisor in the PMO, where he oversees key economic portfolios. Widely regarded for his policy work in India’s energy and infrastructure sectors, his presence in Srinagar is being viewed as a strategic push from the Centre to accelerate and fine-tune Smart City implementation.
