PM Modi Says Somnath Temple Rebuild Restored India’s Pride And National Identity

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, speaking in Gir Somnath, said the reconstruction of the Somnath Temple symbolised India’s reclaiming of national pride and cultural identity after independence. Modi praised Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and Rajendra Prasad for their determination in rebuilding the temple despite opposition. Referring to debates around heritage and identity, Modi said India must stay alert against “appeasement politics” and move forward by balancing development with cultural heritage. He also linked the Somnath restoration to broader efforts of preserving India’s civilisational legacy.
