Old Rusted Shell Recovered, Destroyed in Jammu | Kashmir Life

SRINAGAR: An old, rusted mortar shell was safely destroyed by the Bomb Disposal Squad in the SP Headquarters Zone, Arnia sector of Jammu, after being found in open fields near Border Outpost Vikrant, officials said.

The unexploded shell was spotted in village Treva, Arnia. According to a communiqué received from the Incharge BPP Treva at Police Station Arnia regarding the discovery, immediate action was initiated.

On receiving the information, Inspector Chandan Singh, along with the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) team of PCR Jammu, reached the site promptly. After assessing the situation, the team safely neutralised the unexploded ordnance (UXO) in situ.

The disposal operation was carried out in accordance with established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), with all necessary safety precautions in place. The exercise was conducted in the presence of BSF personnel and the Incharge BPP Treva, ensuring the safety of the surrounding area.

Officials said the swift and coordinated response of the police and allied agencies averted any potential threat to the public. (JKNS)
