SRINAGAR: Police in central Kashmir’s Srinagar district on Saturday attached immovable properties worth nearly Rs 5 crore belonging to alleged drug peddlers and narcotics traffickers in Srinagar and adjoining areas under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

The action was carried out as part of the ongoing “Nasha Mukt Jammu Kashmir Abhiyan – 100 Days Campaign”, aimed at dismantling the financial assets of drug networks operating in the region.

Police said the attachments were executed under relevant provisions of the NDPS Act after completion of legal formalities, in the presence of magistrates, revenue officials and local witnesses.

Among the properties attached were residential houses belonging to Bilal Ahmad Sheikh and Aneek Ahmad Sheikh of Larbal Beerwah, Budgam, linked to FIR No. 37/2024 registered at Police Station Saddar, Srinagar. The houses, comprising single-storey and double-storey structures, are valued at around ₹30 lakh and Rs 50 lakh respectively.

In another case, a double-storey residential house worth nearly Rs 1 crore belonging to Suhaib Farooq Khan of Mini Colony, Chanapora, was attached in connection with a narcotics case registered at Police Station Chanapora.

Police also attached a three-storey residential house with attic at Jawahar Nagar belonging to Mohsin Ibrahim Naqash in FIR No. 42/2026 of Police Station Saddar Srinagar under Sections 8/21 and 29 of the NDPS Act. The property is estimated at around ₹1 crore.

Similarly, a three-storey house belonging to Farhan Manzoor Pandit of Kursoo Rajbagh was attached in a drug-related case registered at Police Station Rajbagh, with an estimated value of around ₹50 lakh.

Separately, a double-storey house at Bakshiabad, Bemina, belonging to Abid Hassan Dar, was attached in FIR No. 18/2022 of Police Station Batamaloo under multiple sections of the NDPS Act and IPC provisions. The property is valued at approximately Rs 1.7 crore.

Police stated that investigations indicated the properties were allegedly acquired through proceeds of illicit drug trafficking. Acting under Sections 68-E and 68-F of the NDPS Act, the assets were formally attached after due legal procedure.

Authorities reiterated that strict action will continue against individuals involved in drug trafficking, including attachment and forfeiture of illegally acquired assets. The public has also been urged to share information on drug-related activities, with assurances that informant identities will remain confidential.
