
SRINAGAR: Police in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Monday recovered approximately 3.9 kilograms of a charas-like substance during a search operation in the Srigufwara area, officials said.
The recovery was made during the investigation of FIR No. 39/2026 registered at Police Station Srigufwara. Acting on a search warrant issued under Section 41 of BNSS by the Court of JMIC Bijbehara, police conducted a search of the residential premises of accused Abdul Rashid Bhat, son of Asadullah Bhat, resident of Shitipora.
During the operation, police detected and busted a concealed hideout allegedly being used for storing narcotic substances. The charas-like contraband was recovered and seized on the spot in accordance with legal procedures.
Officials said the K9 squad was also deployed to assist in the search operation, ensuring a thorough inspection of the premises. All necessary legal formalities were completed at the site.
The recovered contraband has been taken into custody as evidence, while further investigation in the case is underway.
Anantnag Police said they remain committed to intensifying action against drug trafficking and urged the public to share information regarding drug-related activities to help build a drug-free society.
