SRINAGAR: The Meteorological Centre Srinagar has predicted widespread rain, thundershowers, hailstorm and gusty winds across Jammu and Kashmir on June 4 and 5, warning of a risk of flash floods and mudslides in vulnerable locations.
As per the MeT department, most parts of the Union Territory are expected to experience one or two spells of rain, thundershowers, hailstorm and gusty winds over the next two days, with a few areas likely to witness short-lived intense downpours.
On June 6, the weather is likely to remain generally cloudy, accompanied by isolated brief showers at scattered places.
From June 7 to 12, the region is expected to see predominantly hot and dry conditions.
In its advisory, the MeT Centre has warned of thunder, lightning, hailstorm, and gusty winds reaching 40–50 kmph, with gusts up to 60 kmph, at isolated to scattered locations between June 4 and 6.
It further cautioned that brief but intense showers in isolated areas of both Kashmir and Jammu divisions may trigger flash floods and mudslides during June 4 and 5.
The public has been advised to stay indoors during thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds, avoid boating and shikara rides during adverse weather, and exercise caution in areas prone to flooding and landslides.
