Srinagar: Amid the ongoing 100-day ‘Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan’, Lolab Police have intensified its enforcement measures against narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances across the sub-division, deploying a trained K9 sniffer dog to augment detection capabilities.

Officials said the canine unit is being utilised by Lolab Police, ably assisted by Police Station Sogam, during naka checking, targeted raids and area domination exercises to trace concealed narcotics with greater accuracy. The deployment has enhanced the operational efficiency of police teams, particularly in conducting searches across both densely populated areas and remote locations.

As part of the sustained drive, police have established checking points at vital locations and are carrying out surprise inspections to deter drug peddlers and trafficking networks. The initiative forms part of a broader strategy aimed at strengthening surveillance and disrupting illicit supply chains.

Police authorities said the intensified action is focused on dismantling local drug networks and preventing the spread of substance abuse, with particular concern for its impact on youth. The public has been urged to cooperate with law enforcement agencies and provide credible inputs regarding drug-related activities.

Reiterating its resolve, Lolab Police said strict vigilance will be maintained and firm action taken against those involved in the illegal trade to ensure a safer and drug-free environment.
