SRINAGAR: The Union Territory administration of Ladakh has revised the Dearness Allowance (DA) for government employees drawing salaries under the 6th Central Pay Commission, increasing it from 257 per cent to 262 per cent of basic pay with retrospective effect from January 1, 2026.

The enhancement has been notified by Ladakh’s Finance Department in accordance with the Government of India Ministry of Finance notification issued on April 22, 2026.

As per the official order, the revised DA rate will be applicable to employees of the Union Territory who continue to receive pay under the pay band and grade pay structure prescribed under the 6th Central Pay Commission.

The Finance Department stated that the competent authority has approved the five percentage point increase, which will come into effect from the start of the current calendar year.

The order further specifies the manner in which the revised allowance is to be calculated and disbursed. Any amount involving 50 paise or more will be rounded off to the next higher rupee, while amounts below 50 paise will be disregarded.

The revision has been issued in line with the guidelines of the Department of Expenditure under the Ministry of Finance and is part of periodic revisions intended to cushion employees covered under the older pay structure against the effects of inflation.
