Ramban, Jul 9: A labourer working with a construction company on Delhi-Amritsar-Katra expressway died on spot after he fell from an under construction Pier, in Katra area of Reasi district on Wednesday afternoon.
Police said at around 3pm, a labourer fell from height (piller) and died. They said the deceased was working as a labourer with a construction company on Delhi – Amritsar – Katra expressway. Police identified the deceased as Naresh Lal (19), son of Sher Singh, resident of village Sumber, Sangaldhan district Ramban.
Police said the body of the deceased has been shifted to nearby Hospital for conducting post-mortem and other legal formalities. Meanwhile, workers and labourers working with the construction company MCC, on Delhi – Amritsar – Katra Expressway staged a protest demonstration at flyover construction site Nomain Katra. They alleged that Naresh Singh died due to non availability of medical aid, ambulance at the construction site.
They raised slogans against construction company MCC. The labourers demanded from the administration to direct the construction company to provide medical facilities and safety gears for the labourers working on Delhi – Amritsar – Katra Expressway corridor. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Reasi, Paramveer Singh confirmed the incident and said an FIR was registered at Police Station Katra for further investigations.
