SRINAGAR: The Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) has announced a series of scheduled power shutdowns in Srinagar to facilitate ongoing infrastructure works on high-voltage lines and receiving stations.
According to the Chief Engineer, Distribution, the shutdowns are necessary to enable extension of the existing 33 kV feeder from Burzhama station up to Batpora for evacuation of power from the GIS Harwan grid. For this purpose, the 33 kV Habak–Burzhama Tap line will remain shut, resulting in a complete outage at the 33/11 kV Receiving Station Burzhama. Consequently, electricity supply to Danihama, Khimber, Teilbal, Burzhama, Shoperbagh, Rahbagh, Batpora, Chatterhama, Gassu and adjoining localities will remain affected from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on September 21, 2025.
Similarly, to facilitate the installation of 33 kV isolators outside the Shalimar Receiving Station, shutdown of the 33 kV GIS Theed–Shalimar line will be undertaken. The 33/11 kV Receiving Station Shalimar will remain off, disrupting power supply to SKUAST, Telibal, Arbal, Deewan Colony and nearby areas. The interruptions will occur twice on September 20, 2025— from 10:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and again from 2:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
In addition, the 33 kV Cheshmashahi–Shalimar line will also remain shut on September 20, 2025 between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. for associated works, affecting power availability in connected areas.
KPDCL has advised residents in the affected localities to take note of the timings and make necessary arrangements in advance.
