
SRINAGAR: A comprehensive health and awareness programme was organised in Herman, a newly set-up tehsil in Shopian district, where 100 pints of blood were donated during a blood donation camp held alongside cancer and drug awareness sessions.
The event was organised by Aash Foundation as part of efforts to promote public health and awareness. It brought together medical professionals, civil officials, and community members in a coordinated initiative aimed at addressing key health concerns.
Among those present were Nazir Ahmad Khan, Nisar Ahmad Wani, Tariq Rasool, Ishtiyaq Ahmad Shah, Abdul Rasid, and Naib Tehsildar Ali Mohd, along with several other officials and community representatives.
Students from various schools across Tehsil Herman participated in the programme, while local residents turned up in large numbers. Medical experts conducted awareness sessions focusing on cancer prevention and the risks of drug abuse, highlighting the importance of early detection, de-addiction measures, and informed lifestyle choices.
The blood donation camp witnessed a significant public response, with volunteers contributing 100 pints of blood. Organisers described the participation as a reflection of strong community spirit and willingness to support healthcare initiatives.
The Principal of Government Higher Secondary School Herman was acknowledged for facilitating the event and providing logistical support.
Organisers said the programme aimed to foster awareness, encourage preventive healthcare practices, and strengthen collective efforts toward building a healthier and drug-free society.
