SRINAGAR: The 10th All India Police Games Judo Cluster concluded today at the Sher-e-Kashmir Indoor Sports Complex in Srinagar with a spirited closing ceremony attended by the Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar. The week-long national event brought together over 1,600 men and women police personnel from 38 teams representing state forces, Union Territories, and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), showcasing strength, discipline, and unity through sport.
Organised under the aegis of the All India Police Sports Control Board (AIPSCB) in collaboration with the Jammu and Kashmir Police, the tournament featured intense competition across five martial arts disciplines — Judo, Pencak Silat, Karate, Taekwondo, and Wushu.
In his address, the Minister praised the Jammu and Kashmir Police for the smooth and well-coordinated organisation of the event, describing it as a “grand celebration of fitness, teamwork, and national spirit.” He said the enthusiastic participation from across India reflected the discipline and dedication that form the backbone of the country’s police forces.
“The participation of teams from every corner of the nation demonstrates not just physical strength but also the unity and camaraderie that define our forces,” he said, adding that Srinagar’s warmth and hospitality had made it an ideal host city for the event.
Encouraging athletes to continue pursuing sports as part of their professional and personal development, the Minister said, “All of you are ambassadors of the Fit India and Khelo India movements. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, special emphasis has been placed on integrating fitness and sport into everyday life, particularly among our police and armed forces.”
He further noted that Jammu and Kashmir had emerged as a vibrant centre for sports and youth engagement, with events like the Judo Cluster strengthening the country’s collective resolve towards unity and wellness through sportsmanship.
The Minister later presented medals and trophies to the winners, congratulating all participants for their dedication and sportsmanlike spirit.
Earlier, Anand Jain, ADGP Armed J&K and Organising Secretary of the AIPSCB, welcomed the gathering, while DGP Nalin Prabhat addressed the ceremony, acknowledging the efforts of participants and organisers alike. Senior police officers, athletes, and members of the public attended the closing ceremony, adding to the festive atmosphere at the SKISC.
Jammu and Kashmir Police emerged as the overall winner in Pencak Silat (Men), bagging 13 medals including 8 Gold, 4 Silver, and 1 Bronze. CRPF dominated the Karate (Men) and Judo (Men) categories, while SSB secured victories in Wushu (Men’s Sanshou), Wushu (Women’s Taolu), and Judo (Women).
ITBP claimed top honours in Karate (Women) and Wushu (Women’s Sanshou), while Assam Rifles triumphed in Taekwondo (Women). Chandigarh Police lifted the overall championship trophy in Pencak Silat (Women).
As the games concluded, the week-long event was hailed as a success — not only for the athletic excellence on display but also for the spirit of unity and cooperation it fostered among India’s diverse police forces, with Srinagar reaffirming its growing reputation as a national hub for sporting events.
