SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir government has acknowledged delays in recruitment examinations conducted by the Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB), attributing them to administrative challenges, litigation and weather-related disruptions.

In a written reply to a question by MLA Shamima Firdous in the Legislative Assembly, the government said that in some instances examinations could not be conducted within the scheduled timeframe.

The Minister-in-Charge said the delays were largely due to factors such as non-availability of examination centres, adverse weather conditions, court cases and the time required for verification of eligibility documents.

The government maintained that recruitment processes are carried out by the concerned agencies in line with prescribed rules, procedures and notified timelines.

To address the issue, the reply said steps have been taken to streamline recruitment, including rationalising examination schedules, introducing technology-based systems, strengthening manpower and closely monitoring timelines.

It added that JKSSB has already issued an advance calendar for examinations scheduled in 2026, which is being strictly adhered to in order to ensure timely, transparent and fair recruitment.
