Jammu Railway Division operates special Katra-New Delhi train

Jammu, Dec 14: Special train service between Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra and New Delhi railway station, launched by Jammu Railway Division of Northern Railway for three days from December 12, evoked an overwhelming response.

The Division had decided to operate special train number 04082/04081 between Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra and New Delhi from December 12 to 14, 2025.

“On December 13 2025, special train number 04082 departed from Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra for New Delhi as per its scheduled timetable and successfully managed the large crowd of passengers, enabling them to reach their destinations comfortably. The occupancy of train number 04082 on the first day was more than 60 percent,” Uchit Singhal, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Jammu Railway Division, informed.

He said that after the notification for the reserved special train was issued, more than 700 seats were booked.

“On its second day i.e., December 14, more than 900 seats were booked. In total, more than 1600 seats were booked on both days i.e., December 13 and 14. The successful operation of this reserved special train has provided a reliable mode of transport with reduced travel time for devotees and other passengers visiting Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra,” he said.

Singhal maintained that the operation of the reserved special train from Katra to New Delhi was very successful on its first day.

“This special train will stop at several major stations along its route, such as Jammu, Pathankot Cantt, Jalandhar Cantt, Ludhiana, Ambala Cantt, Panipat, etc., benefiting passengers from various parts of the route. The overwhelming response from passengers and the successful operation of the train without any major inconvenience reflects the efficient management of the railways and the commitment of its staff,” Singhal said.
