SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir government has approved infrastructure works worth Rs 7.05 crore under the Capital Expenditure (Capex) budget for the welfare of Kashmiri migrants residing in Jammu, according to an official statement from the Chief Minister’s Office.

The sanctioned projects are aimed at strengthening community facilities and improving amenities available to displaced migrant families in the region.

Among the approved works is the construction of a multipurpose community hall at the Migrant Camp in Muthi, one of the largest settlements for Kashmiri migrant families. The facility will include a library and designated space for Self-Help Groups (SHGs).

The government has also cleared the construction of a new office building for the Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner (Migrants), Jammu.

Officials said the proposed community hall is intended to host social, educational and cultural activities, while also supporting livelihood-related initiatives undertaken by SHGs.

The new office building is expected to enhance administrative efficiency and improve the delivery of relief, rehabilitation and welfare services for migrant families.
