Born on September 13, 1997 in Roop Nagar, Jammu, the right-arm medium-fast bowler has established himself as a key member of Jammu and Kashmir’s domestic set-up. Known for consistently bowling at speeds above 140 kmph, he has built a reputation for making timely breakthroughs and also contributes useful runs in the lower order.

Charak first featured in senior domestic cricket with Hyderabad, making his first-class debut in 2019, before returning to represent Jammu and Kashmir, where he became a regular fixture in the pace attack across formats. His performances in domestic competitions, including strong spells in the Ranji Trophy, have helped him emerge as one of the most promising fast bowlers from the region.

A standout phase of his career came in the 2024–25 Ranji Trophy season, where a match-winning seven-wicket haul against Mumbai drew widespread attention. In the 2025–26 season, he further strengthened his credentials by taking 21 wickets in seven matches, performances that ultimately supported his selection to the India A side.

His career progression also includes involvement in the Indian Premier League. He was first signed by Mumbai Indians in 2021, later joining Lucknow Super Giants, where he made his IPL debut in 2023 and claimed two wickets in his first match. Ahead of the 2025 season, he was picked up by Rajasthan Royals for Rs 35 lakh, taking four wickets in the 2025 season and earning retention for 2026.

Charak now joins a competitive India A squad led by captain Tilak Varma and vice-captain Riyan Parag, alongside players including Ayush Badoni, Prabhsimran Singh and Anshul Kamboj. The team will take on Sri Lanka A and Afghanistan A in a three-match series regarded as an important platform for assessment ahead of senior national selection.

For Jammu and Kashmir cricket, his elevation is widely viewed as a significant milestone, highlighting the growing presence of players from the region at higher levels of Indian cricket and the value of consistent domestic performances.
