SRINAGAR: The High Court on Monday contributed Rs 54,40,500 to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF) to aid rehabilitation and welfare efforts for people affected by recent floods in Jammu and Kashmir.
Officials said the cheque was formally handed over to the Chief Minister, with the judiciary stressing that the amount, though modest, symbolised the collective support of the judicial fraternity towards rebuilding lives in flood-hit areas.
The Court emphasised that collective action was crucial to restoring normalcy in the Union Territory, where devastating floods had displaced families and caused extensive damage to property and livelihoods.
Judicial officials added that the contribution reflects the institution’s concern for public welfare and solidarity with affected families. They emphasised that the judiciary remains committed to extending support during the ongoing crisis.
The devastating floods, which have severely impacted the socio-economic fabric of the region, have drawn responses from multiple institutions and organisations offering assistance for relief and recovery.
