Fuel Prices Hiked Twice In A Week

Fuel prices have been hiked for the second time in less than a week, delivering another setback to consumers already battling rising living costs. Petrol and diesel rates were increased by around 90 paise per litre across major cities after an earlier hike of nearly 3 per litre on Friday. In Delhi, petrol prices have climbed to 98.64 per litre, while diesel now costs `91.58. Mumbai, Bengaluru and Chennai have also witnessed sharp increases in fuel rates. The latest revision comes amid rising global crude oil prices, escalating tensions in West Asia and disruptions around the strategically crucial Strait of Hormuz — a key route for global oil shipments. While the government has assured citizens that India has adequate fuel supplies and there is no shortage, repeated hikes in petrol and diesel prices continue to add pressure on household budgets and transportation costs across the country.
