SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference President Farooq Abdullah today extended greetings to the people on the auspicious occasion of Janmashtami, also known locally as Zaram-e-Satam.

In his message, Farooq said that Janmashtami, which marks the birth of Shri Krishna, is a celebration of love, devotion, and righteousness. He expressed hope that the festival would continue to inspire peace, spiritual reflection, and communal harmony across the region.

“This occasion reminds us of the timeless values of truth, love, compassion, and justice principles that Shri Krishna upheld,” Abdullah said. “May this festival strengthen the bonds of brotherhood and bring prosperity to all.”

He also lauded the rich pluralistic culture of Jammu and Kashmir, where festivals of all faiths are celebrated with mutual respect and unity.

Marking the onset of the autumn season, Zaram-e-Satam also holds cultural significance in Kashmir. Abdullah encouraged fellow citizens from across the country to visit the Valley during this vibrant time of year, when the sun shines gently and the landscapes come alive in hues of gold and amber.
