ECI Announces Poll Dates for By-elections to Budgam, Nagrota Assembly Seats – Alfaaz – The Words

Srinagar: The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Monday announced that by-elections to the Budgam and Nagrota Assembly constituencies in Jammu and Kashmir will be held on November 11, with counting scheduled for November 14.

Announcing the poll schedule during a press conference in New Delhi, Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar said the by-elections in the Union Territory will be held alongside the Bihar Assembly elections 2025 and several other by-polls across the country.

The Budgam Assembly seat fell vacant after Chief Minister Omar Abdullah resigned from it, choosing to retain his Ganderbal constituency following his victory from both segments in last year’s Assembly polls.

The Nagrota seat, on the other hand, fell vacant following the demise of BJP leader Devender Singh Rana on October 31 last year, shortly after the declaration of the Assembly election results.
