DYSS organises winter trekking camp for girls in Pahalgam

Pahalgam, Jan 9: Defying severe winter conditions, girl students from different age groups are participating in a trekking camp at Pahalgam organised by the Directorate of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS), District Budgam, demonstrating courage, discipline and growing confidence as they explore the snow-bound terrain, including the scenic Betaab Valley.

On Day 3 of the trekking camp, as per a DYSS statement, girl trekkers explored the scenic Betaab Valley, showcasing remarkable courage, discipline, and enthusiasm while defeating the challenges posed by severe winter weather. The camp is witnessing active participation and high spirits among the students, highlighting the growing confidence and resilience of young girls.

Speaking on the occasion, Aijaz Ahmad Dar interacted with the participants. Simran Gul, a student of High School Arizal, shared her experience, saying:

“We enjoyed this trekking camp a lot. We want such camps more often. I especially loved the natural beauty, disciplined routine, morning exercises, and stress-free environment. This camp helped us relax mentally and feel energetic.”

The trekking camp is being organised under the directions of the Director General, Youth Services & Sports J&K, Anuradha Gupta, and is supervised and organised by District Youth Services & Sports Officer Budgam, Ghulam Hassan Lone.

The initiative stands as a maiden winter trekking effort, proving that with proper guidance and motivation, girl students can defeat harsh winters and emerge stronger, healthier, and more confident.
