Disqualification Rules for Jammu Kashmir Legislators to be Laid in Assembly

SRINAGAR: The Members of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly (Disqualification on Grounds of Defection) Rules-2025 will be laid before the Legislative Assembly on Friday.

According to the list of business scheduled for tomorrow, the Secretary, Legislative Assembly, will table a copy of the rules in the House.

The new rules, formulated under the provisions of the Tenth Schedule of the Constitution of India, are applicable to Jammu and Kashmir in accordance with Section 28 of the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Act, 2019. The Tenth Schedule deals with the disqualification of legislators on the grounds of defection.

In addition to the tabling of the disqualification rules, the Assembly will also take up for consideration and passage the Jammu and Kashmir Goods and Services Tax (Amendment) Bill, 2025.
