
The Drug and Food Control Organization, Ganderbal, in collaboration with Ganderbal Chemists and Distributors association on Monday organised an awareness rally under the ongoing 100 days Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan to sensitize locals about the harmful effects of drug abuse.
Participants in significant numbers, holding placards and banners with messages such as “Say No to Drugs” and “Say Yes to Life,” emphasizing the urgent need to combat the growing menace of substance abuse in society.
The rally moved through key areas, attracting public attention and encouraging community participation. Speaking on the occasion, Assistant Drugs Controller Ganderbal Dr Shabir Ahmad highlighted the rising trend of substance abuse among youth and stressed the role of chemists in preventing the sale of psychotropic drugs without valid prescriptions.
The primary objective of the rally is to raise awareness about the growing menace of drug abuse. A large number of chemists and distributors are participating in the rally with the aim to sensitize the public and promote a collective responsibility towards building a drug-free society, he said.
Members of the chemists’ association also pledged their support in ensuring that medicines are not misused and are dispensed responsibly.
