The Langate Contractors Association Monday staged a peaceful protest against the prolonged vacant post of Executive Engineer in the Roads and Buildings (R&B) Division Langate, demanding immediate appointment to ensure smooth functioning of the department.
The protestors said that the post of Executive Engineer has remained vacant for over two months causing delays in the execution and processing of various developmental works in the R&B Division Langate.
“We are facing severe difficulties due to absence of an Executive Engineer with the result important files have piled up and important projects are stuck across the jurisdiction of R&B Division Langate,” said Azad Ahmad, President Langate Contractors Association. “The continued vacancy has adversely impacted administrative functioning and slowed the pace of ongoing projects, causing inconvenience to both contractors and the general public,” he added.
The agitated protesters said that developmental works cannot be allowed to suffer because of administrative gaps. They urged the government and higher authorities to fill the vacant post without any further delay. The protesters appealed to the higher authorities of the R&B Department and the government to take immediate steps to appoint a new Executive Engineer in Langate so that developmental works are carried out without hindrance.
