SRINAGAR: Chief Minister and National Conference (NC) Vice President Omar Abdullah on Monday said the party has sufficient leaders to lead its election campaign, downplaying MP Aga Ruhullah’s decision to abstain from canvassing for the party’s candidate in the Budgam by-poll.

Speaking to reporters, Abdullah stated that he had never compelled anyone to either join or withdraw from an election campaign. “The National Conference has plenty of leaders who are actively participating in the campaign and continuing outreach across constituencies,” he said.

“The party has enough people for the campaign. No one is being forced,” CM Added.

Ruhullah, the MP from Srinagar, has in recent days expressed growing discontent with the party leadership. He has publicly criticised Omar Abdullah, accusing him of ridiculing the very people who voted for him. Ruhullah said the Chief Minister should reserve such language for the BJP, whom he described as the “real oppressors” of those constituents.
