The Jammu and Kashmir Civil Engineering Graduates Association, in an extraordinary meeting attended by its elected body and senior engineers from the Public Works Department and Jal Shakti Department, reconstituted its leadership structure and called for urgent reforms to address key challenges facing the engineering fraternity.
The meeting, chaired by President Er. Farooq Ahmad Ganie, deliberated on the future functioning of the association in the changing administrative scenario following the formation of the political government in Jammu and Kashmir. Engineers raised serious concerns over the declining professional dignity of engineers at various administrative levels, despite their consistent role in executing critical public works under challenging circumstances.
Participants strongly criticized the growing practice of incharge promotions becoming a permanent arrangement while regular promotions and regularisation continue to be delayed. The association also emphasized the immediate implementation of Assured Career Progression, stronger unity among engineers across departments, and the need for regular seminars, workshops, and technical interactions to promote professional development.
As part of the restructuring, the existing Executive Council was dissolved and a new Core Team was constituted to revitalize the association. The new team includes Er. Nasir Amin as Chief Patron, Er. Syed Ishfaq and Er. Zubair Naqash as Vice Presidents, Er. Mudassir Mushtaq Untoo as Additional General Secretary, and Er. Malik Mudassir as Joint Secretary.
The elected body will continue with Er. Farooq Ahmad Ganie as President, Er. Irfan Reshi as General Secretary, and Er. Ashaq Ahmad Ashaq as Treasurer.
The association further resolved to establish district-level executive bodies in the first phase to ensure wider representation, strengthen institutional accountability, and safeguard the collective interests of engineers across Jammu and Kashmir.
