Rajouri, Jan 23: Personnel of the Border Roads Organisation, along with police and civil administration teams, rescued three commuters stranded in the Gool area after heavy snowfall blocked the route, officials said on Friday.

Demonstrating exemplary commitment and coordination, personnel of 110 RCC of 31 Border Roads Task Force (BRTF) under Project Sampark of the Border Roads Organisation (BRO), along with a joint team led by the SDPO Gool and SDM Gool, made the successful rescue.

The commuters, who were travelling from Gool to Shajroo, had been stuck since around 2 AM after intense snowfall blocked the route.

BRO officials stated that while braving harsh weather conditions, the rescue team trekked for more than 11 kilometres through nearly four feet of snow to reach the stranded travellers.

Upon rescue, the commuters were provided with refreshments and warm clothing and were safely shifted to a BRO refuge.

Officials said all three were found to be healthy and in fit walking condition.

Meanwhile, the BRO has intensified snow clearance operations in the area to restore road connectivity.
