
Party leaders also visit Machil; get praised for approval of tunnel project

Kupwara, Apr 10: On the directions of jailed Member of Parliament from Baramulla, Er Rashid, a delegation of the Awami Itihaad Party (AIP) on Friday visited the Kupwara bus stand to assess the situation following a recent fire incident in which five vehicles were gutted.
The delegation comprised AIP Chief Spokesperson Inam Un Nabi, Kupwara constituency in-charge Firdouse Baba, Abrar Rashid, son of MP Er Rashid, District Secretary Dr Firdouse, Lolab constituency in-charge Advocate Dawood Bashir Bhat, along with party members Muneer Ahmad, Peer Azhar-ud-Din, Abdul Khaliq, Syed Arshid Naqshbandi, Abas Mir, Sayeed Ahmad, Musadiq Rehman and Basharat Hussain Ganai.
Interacting with the affected vehicle owners and local stakeholders, the delegation expressed solidarity with the victims and assured continued support.
During the visit, drivers, members of the bus union and passengers raised concerns regarding the lack of sanitation facilities and inadequate infrastructure at the bus stand.
Taking note of the issues, the delegation said the long-pending sanitary complex would be made functional, with efforts for proper maintenance and upkeep.
It also announced that CCTV cameras would be installed to enhance security, while street lights would be repaired to ensure safety during evening hours.
Reaffirming its commitment to public welfare, the AIP said it would continue to raise grassroots issues and work to ensure that public concerns are addressed.
The delegation also visited Machil, during which they were given a warm welcome by the people over the approval of the much-awaited tunnel project. While the DPR of the tunnel is on its final stage, the locals hailed MP Er Rashid for his painstaking efforts to get the sanction from the ministry concerned.
The visiting delegation assured the people that the party will continue to raise and fight for the rights and genuine demands of the public at every front.
