Handwara: The 77th Republic Day was celebrated with patriotic fervour at the District Police Lines Handwara on Monday. Additional Deputy Commissioner Handwara, Javed Naseem Masoodi, JKAS, unfurled the National Flag, inspected the parade, and took the salute during the march past.
The ceremonial parade featured contingents of the Jammu and Kashmir Police, Central Reserve Police Force, Indian Reserve Police, Home Guards, NCC cadets, school students, and the police band. The parade reflected discipline, coordination, and national pride.
Government departments presented tableaux highlighting key achievements, development works, and welfare initiatives implemented in the area. The displays focused on public service delivery and administrative progress.
Students from various schools presented cultural programmes that included patriotic songs, folk dances, and theme based performances. The presentations highlighted national unity, cultural heritage, and the values of the Constitution.
An award ceremony was held to recognise outstanding performances. Meritorious students, officials, and other achievers were felicitated for their contributions in different fields.
Senior Superintendent of Police Handwara Sahil Sarangal, IPS, District Development Council members Mir Sulaiman from Rajwar and Khursheed Ahmad Dar from Mawer, officers from the police and Army, civil administration officials, government employees, students, and local residents attended the function.
Republic Day celebrations were also held at government offices across the sub division, where officials unfurled the National Flag and participated in ceremonial salutes. Similar functions took place at tehsil, block, educational institution, and panchayat levels across Sub Division Handwara, marking widespread participation and a strong spirit of unity.
