Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (NC) on Friday formally announced its nominees for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections, naming senior leaders Choudhary Muhammad Ramzan, Sajad Ahmad Kichloo, and Shammi Oberoi as its candidates.
The announcement was made by NC General Secretary Ali Muhammad Sagar during a press conference in Srinagar.
Sagar said that while the party has finalized three names, deliberations are ongoing with the Congress regarding the fourth seat.
“We have decided our three candidates. For the fourth seat, discussions with the Congress are in progress,” Sagar told reporters, adding that the party is committed to ensuring a “united opposition front.”
Though the NC has announced its lineup, the party leadership refrained from confirming whether one of the three “safe” seats would be ceded to the Congress or if the ally would be fielded in a more competitive constituency.
