Power Shutdown Announced Across Jammu Kashmir

SRINAGAR: The Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) and Jammu Power Distribution Corporation Limited (JPDCL) have announced scheduled power shutdowns across several areas of the Union Territory to facilitate branch cutting and routine preventive maintenance works.

According to the Chief Engineer, Distribution, KPDCL, a shutdown of the 190 MVA, 132/33 KV Grid Station Wanpoh, including the 132 KV Mirbazar–Wanpoh transmission line, will be observed on October 15, 2025 from 9 am to 3.30 pm. Power supply to Ashajipora, Dialgam, Janglatmandi, Brakpora, Malaknag, Quimoh, Redwani, Harnag, Nai Basti, Sarnal, Anchidora, Akora, Veeri, Shamsipora, Zirpora, Chinniwudder, SICOP, Mirbazar, Vessu, Qazigund, Tunnel Railway, Chowgam and Kund receiving stations will remain affected during the period.

In a separate notification, KPDCL clarified that under the previously issued schedule for the 33 KV Khunmoh SIDCO-II line, the affected areas should be read as Industrial Area, Khunmoh and adjoining localities instead of BB Cant.

Meanwhile, the Chief Engineer, Distribution, JPDCL Jammu, has announced a series of shutdowns for October 12, 2025 across multiple districts to carry out maintenance works. Power supply to District Ramban, Gool, Sanghaldan and parts of Doda District will remain affected from 8.30 am to 5 pm. Similarly, Premnagar, Thathri, Dhara, Changa, Gandoh, Bhatyas, Bhaderwah Town and adjoining areas will face an outage from 9 am to 5 pm, while District Doda will see power disruption from 9 am to 4 pm.

Additionally, IIDC Govindsar, Logate Industry, Sahar, Kumri Kathera, MES Janglote, Aegious Polyfilms and neighbouring areas will remain without power from 7 am to 12 noon. The shutdown will also affect Ghagwal, Rajpura, Sherpur, Nichla, Koota, Saida, Surara and adjoining areas from 1 pm to 4 pm, while Lamberi, Bagnoti, Narian, Nowshera, Jaba Deeing Syal, Nonial, Manpur, Chowki-Jangher, Qila, Darhal, Rajpora Laroka and nearby localities will remain affected from 8 am to 2 pm.

Power supply to Raj Bhawan, Panjthirthi, Kachi Chawni, Karan Nagar, part of Ambphala and adjoining areas will remain affected from 7 am to 1 pm. The Superintending Engineer, O&M Circle-III, JPDCL Batote, has also informed that part of Reasi Town, Gadal, Vijaypur, Nai Basti, Seela, Shiv Nagar, Kala, Suketar and adjoining areas will remain without power from 8 am to 12 noon.

Both corporations have advised consumers to note the schedules and cooperate during the maintenance period to ensure system reliability and safety.
