Hamas will exchange 20 living hostages for nearly 2,000 Palestinian prisoners in the first phase.
Israel will release 250 Palestinians serving life sentences plus 1,700 others arrested since the war began in exchange for the hostages.
The exchange will occur within 72 hours of the agreement’s implementation, with the signing ceremony scheduled for noon Cairo time Thursday (5 AM Eastern).
This confirms earlier reports that 20 living hostages are among the 48 total remaining in Gaza, with the deceased to be returned separately.
Hamas has already submitted its prisoner list and awaits Israeli approval before announcing names to the Palestinian public.
