Srinagar: The National Conference on Thursday witnessed an open rift, as Education Minister Sakina Itoo lashed out at her own party MP, Aga Ruhullah Mehdi, for criticising the government in Jammu and Kashmir.
Itoo told reporters that Ruhullah should be using his mandate in Delhi, not taking potshots at home. “He was elected to Parliament to speak for the people there. Criticising here doesn’t serve students, doesn’t strengthen the education system,” she said.
On the academic calendar, she struck a defiant note: “Exams will not be delayed, whatever the circumstances.”
“Be it floods, heatwaves, or unrest, students should be assured the schedule stands firm. Even schools hit by damage won’t hold us back,” she said.
