Nasir Ganie’s Blazing 82 in Vain as Friends XI Exit KNKPL – Alfaaz – The Words

Kupwara: The league stage of KNKPL-2025 ended with a nail-biting clash between Friends XI Lolab and Lazzat Sopore. Despite securing a 21-run victory, Friends XI failed to qualify for the semi-finals.

Chasing qualification, Friends XI needed to restrict Lazzat Sopore under 135 runs. Earlier, their own innings had looked in deep trouble at 66-6, courtesy of disciplined bowling and poor shot selection. But Nasir Ganie turned the tide, blasting a stunning 82 off just 35 balls to take Friends XI to 164/6.

In reply, Friends XI struck early to reduce Lazzat Sopore to 67-6, raising hopes of sealing a semi-final berth. However, a gritty 60-run seventh-wicket stand between Zubair and Fayaz broke their dream. Though Friends XI eventually won the match, Lazzat Sopore crossed the qualification threshold, ending Lolab’s campaign.

Cricket fans now await the semi-finals as Shaheen Sports Lalpora vs. Lazzat Sopore contest is being played on September 16, followed by Narbal XI vs. Shartgund Cricket Club on September 17.
