2.39 Lakh Cases Settled in 3rd Ntn’l Lok Adalat Across J&K – Alfaaz – The Words

Srinagar: The J&K Legal Services Authority (J&K LSA), under the patronage of Chief Justice Arun Palli and leadership of Justice Sanjeev Kumar, organized the 3rd National Lok Adalat of 2025 across the Union Territory, facilitating speedy and amicable settlements in a wide range of cases.

Justice Sanjeev Kumar, Executive Chairman of J&K LSA, inaugurated the Adalat at the District Court Complex, Kupwara, where he was accorded a ceremonial guard of honour and later inspected benches, interacted with litigants, advocates, and judicial officers, and oversaw the distribution of MACT compensation cheques to beneficiaries. He also held discussions with Legal Aid Defense Counsels at the ADR Centre and visited District Jail Kupwara to review facilities and interact with inmates.

According to J&K LSA, 1,67 benches across the UT took up 3,06,851 cases, of which 2,39,533 were settled on the spot, involving settlement amounts worth ₹50.50 crore in matters ranging from MACT claims and matrimonial disputes to cheque dishonor, civil, criminal, labour, bank recovery, and utility bill cases.

Member Secretary Shazia Tabasum informed that the 4th National Lok Adalat will be held on December 13, 2025, offering another opportunity for litigants whose cases could not be settled this time.
