
SRINAGAR: The three-day New Criminal Laws Exhibition, organised by the Economic Offences Wing (Crime Branch Kashmir) at JK Police Public School, Bemina, concluded on Saturday, drawing nearly 9,000 visitors and marking strong public engagement with India’s newly enacted criminal laws.
The exhibition, inaugurated on September 11 by the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, aimed to raise awareness about the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, 2023.
Officials said more than 5,500 students, legal professionals and civil society members visited the exhibition in the first two days, while an additional 2,500 attended on the final day, reflecting growing interest in understanding the reformed legal framework.
Addressing the closing ceremony, Inspector General of Police, Crime Branch Jammu and Kashmir, Sujit Kumar, IPS, commended the initiative, calling it a significant step in bridging the gap between law enforcement agencies and the public through education and dialogue.
Designed as an interactive platform, the exhibition promoted legal literacy, encouraged civic responsibility, and generated discussions on how the new laws are set to reshape India’s criminal justice system.
The Economic Offences Wing (Crime Branch Kashmir) expressed gratitude to participants and stakeholders for their support, terming the exhibition a “resounding success.”
