No cloudburst occurred in the Baltal-Sonamarg area of Ganderbal district, contrary to some media reports.
What took place was a brief spell of heavy rain. No significant damage has been reported, and the minor landslides on the SSG road are already being cleared.
Satellite observations also confirm the same — there was no major cloud formation such as strong cumulonimbus (thunder) clouds. The cloud build-up began around 3 p.m. and gradually cleared by 6:30 p.m.
