Govt Shuts Colleges Across Jammu Kashmir Till September 6

SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir government on Wednesday ordered suspension of class work in all Government Degree Colleges and Government Colleges of Engineering and Technology (GCETs) across the Union Territory till September 06.

According to the Higher Education Department, the decision has been taken in view of the prevailing weather conditions and as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of students.

Earlier, the School Education Department had also announced the closure of all government and private schools in the Kashmir Division following heavy rains, flooding and gusty winds that damaged several school buildings. Schools are scheduled to reopen on Monday.
