Youth drowns while bathing in Malanser Lake in J-K’s Ramban

Banihal, August 29: In a tragic incident, a 22-year-old youth drowned while bathing in Malanser Lake in the Pogal area of Ramsoo subdivision in Jammu and Kashmir’s Ramban district on Thursday afternoon.

The Malanser Lake, a seasonal water body, is located on a hilltop in Maligam Pogal.

Officials said a joint team of the Himalayan QRT Ramsoo and local police launched a rescue operation, and after hectic efforts, the body was recovered around 11:40 p.m. on Thursday. After completing the necessary legal formalities, it was handed over to the family.

The deceased has been identified as 22-year-old Idrees Runyal, son of Shafiq Ahmed Runyal, a resident of Panla Maligam in the Pogal Paristan area of Ramban district.
