Srinagar, Aug 26: The Jammu and Kashmir Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on Tuesday suspended nine FSSAI licenses of prominent food outlets in Srinagar and Anantnag after seizing over 12,000 kg of rotten meat from markets earlier this week.

According to details available, the suspended licenses include Al-Taqwa Foods (Lasjan), Aarif Enterprises (Tengpora), Sunshine Foods (Zakura), Anmol Foods (Qamarwari), Domino’s Pizza (KP Road, Anantnag), Shaun Shahi Biryani (KP Road, Anantnag), Shan Fish Fry (Achabal Adda, Anantnag), Bismillah Sweets (Industrial Estate, Anantnag), and Khanday Poultry (Kadipora, Anantnag).

Officials said the step was necessary to safeguard public health and warned that inspections across Jammu and Kashmir will continue.

“The department will not hesitate to suspend or cancel licenses of those selling unsafe food products. More drives are underway to ensure clean and safe food reaches consumers,” an FDA official told KNC.

Authorities have also urged citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspected sale of substandard or expired food in local markets. (KNC)
