J&K Govt Sanctions 105 Assistant Professor Posts for 7 New Medical Colleges – Alfaaz – The Words

Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has sanctioned the creation of 105 posts of Assistant Professors for seven new Government Medical Colleges (GMCs) across union territory.

According to the government order, each medical college will receive 15 posts across various disciplines, including Anatomy, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Microbiology, Community Medicine, General Medicine, Pediatrics, General Surgery, Orthopedics, ENT, Ophthalmology, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Anesthesiology, and Radio Diagnosis.

A total of 105 posts have been sanctioned, with 15 posts for each of the seven medical colleges in Anantnag, Baramulla, Doda, Kathua, Rajouri, Handwara, and Udhampur, order reads.

The order, issued by Dr. Syed Abid Rasheed Shah, Secretary to the Government, Health and Medical Education Department, follows the approval of the Council of Ministers on July 29, 2025, and concurrence from the Finance Department.

Officials said the move aims to strengthen faculty availability in the new GMCs and enhance medical education and healthcare services across Jammu and Kashmir. (KNC)
