SRINAGAR: The Government of Jammu and Kashmir has ordered a penalty of Rs 21.85 lakh on former Executive Engineer, PHE Division Awantipora, RK Pandita, after an inquiry found him guilty of violating codal procedures in awarding works between 2013 and 2014 as per the report in Daily Excelsior.
The action followed a Vigilance Organization probe which revealed that Pandita allotted construction works without inviting tenders, causing losses to the Government exchequer.
The penalty, equal to 10 percent of the Rs 218.50 lakh worth of works executed departmentally, will be recovered under JK Civil Services Rules, closing the case at the departmental level.
Further investigations related to this matter are underway.
