SRINAGAR: Commercial LPG cylinder prices across India have been slashed by Rs 33.50, with the new rates coming into effect from August 1, oil marketing companies announced on Friday. According to The Economic Times, the revised price for a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder in Delhi now stands at Rs 1,631.50. However, there has been no change in the price of the widely used 14.2-kg domestic LPG cylinder, which remains steady at Rs 853.
The latest reduction offers some relief to small businesses, hotels, and restaurants—sectors that are heavily dependent on commercial LPG for daily operations. The cut follows a series of downward price revisions earlier this year, with commercial cylinder prices falling by Rs 58.50 in July, Rs 24 in June, and Rs 41 in April. This trend has been attributed to a sustained decline in global crude oil prices, which has allowed oil marketing firms to pass on the benefits to consumers.
Industry reports indicate that domestic consumption comprises nearly 90 per cent of India’s total LPG usage, with the remaining 10 per cent accounted for by commercial and industrial demand. Despite no recent change in household cylinder pricing, businesses hope the reduction in commercial tariffs will provide them with some respite amid rising input costs elsewhere.
