WCWS organises fruit tree plantation drive in Bishnah

Jammu, Jul 22: J&K We Care Welfare Society (WCWS), Jammu chapter Tuesday organised a fruit trees plantation drive in village Khairi of tehsil Bishnah in Jammu district.

Grafted fruit tree saplings of hybrid mango, litchi and lime were distributed among 150 Below Poverty Line (BPL) families, free of cost.

The objective of this programme was to improve nutritional status of these underprivileged people and for the betterment of the environment, as fruits form an important role of nutritional requirement for maintenance of good health, which provides resistance to all diseases, a press statement said.

The plant distribution drive was organised in Government Girls Middle School, Khairi (Bishnah). WCWS members helped in proper distribution of fruit saplings.

The beneficiaries were properly advised for proper plantation. WCWS president Dr R K Gupta thanked Chitamber Singh and Suman Gupta, the resource personnel, who helped in organising the programme.

General secretary Rajinder Gupta appreciated WCWS members for making the programme a great success.

Vice president, Sudershan Gupta thanked all farmers, especially women folk, for their participation in the programme.

Chairman of WCWS Prof M Sadiq Nargal appreciated members for organising the programme in the border village.

All participants thanked WCWS management for providing good quality grafted plants, which would help improve their health and environment.
