Srinagar, Jul 19: The President of Janata Dal United (J&K),  G M Shaheen, has strongly reiterated the party’s commitment to fighting for the rights of farmers and revitalising the rural economy across the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

In a statement, he emphasised that farmers are the backbone of our economy, yet continue to face extreme hardships due to outdated policies, loan burdens, and lack of proper infrastructure.

“It is unacceptable that thousands of farmers in Jammu and Kashmir are still waiting for basic support systems—be it irrigation, crop insurance, or timely access to markets. We demand the waiver of Kisan Credit Card (KCC) loans for small and marginal farmers, and the introduction of zero-interest agricultural loans to boost productivity,” said Shaheen.
