Property of Pakistan-Based Hizb Commander Attached in North Kashmir: Police

SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday said that properties belonging to a Pakistan-based Kashmiri militant handler and top commander of proscribed outfits Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) and Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen (JUM) have been seized in Sogam, Kupwara.

Police said the action was taken against Ghulam Rasool Shah alias Rafia Rasool Shah, originally a resident of Peer Mohalla, Chandigam, Lolab. “Shah, who is currently operating from across the border, has been involved in facilitating and orchestrating militant activities in the region for several years.”

“As part of the legal proceedings, 5 kanals and 3 marlas of land belonging to Shah at Peer Mohalla Chandigam were attached under Section 25 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act [UA(P)A]. The property is linked to FIR No. 276/2022 registered at Police Station Kupwara, which includes charges under Sections 120B, 121A, 122, and 123 of the IPC and Sections 17, 18, 18A, 18B, 20, 38, 39, and 40 of the UA(P)A,” police spokesperson said in a statement.
